Creating a music product to help people with sleep or concentration difficulties.
For my research project I want to explore and achieve creating an a Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) EP for individuals who have challenges with stress, insomnia and concentration.
(TELL ME ABOUT THIS ASMR)
ASMR is a feeling like goosebumps or tingling sensation watching or listening to videos which can even cause them to fall asleep.
People who experience ASMR report feeling: calm, Better able to cope with insomnia and focusing.
While researching I found that on average, those who listen to ASMR had a heart rate decrease of 3.14 beats per minute while listening ASMR videos
ASMR can help you sleep but on several websites are saying that isn’t scientific evidence is needed to confirm claims that ASMR promotes sleep.
When I Research on an website called the sleep doctor its informs me that People with the sleep disorder insomnia have also reported receiving benefits from ASMR content like videos. Also ASMR has also been shown to improve mood, which can affect sleep.
When researching on psychology today site i read about ASMR can help reduce stress by decreasing the heart rate and and calms the mind and that could help if stress is a big issue of person sleep issues. From the same site it also inform that if you suffer from chronic pain watching ASMR has a positive response to the pain symptoms after using ASMR.
(Tell me about how this will help with stress, sleep and ADHD.)
I want to research this because from my own personal experiences with the challenges of both insomnia and concentration issues caused from ADHD, I want to help others by channeling my skills in music production to make relaxing audio to assist calm and relaxation .
what scientific evidence is there towards treating insomnia using AMSR?
When researching, I have discovered There have only been a handful of studies examining the neurological and physiological basis of ASMR. But But they are still at a very early stage in the research field
viewers use these videos to trigger ASMR, to promote relaxation and sleep, and even a cure treat depression and anxiety
When researching I have determined that ASMR is great for people for who suffer from conditions like depression and anxiety and possibly many other metal health conditions
the past decade has seen a growing number of YouTube videos dedicated to inducing ASMR in viewers for rest and relaxation. For many, these videos can provide a much-needed antidote to insomnia, stress and even relief from depression and anxiety.
The growing awareness of ASMR within popular culture has been largely due to YouTube, the online ASMR community
Despite the potential parallels between ASMR and aesthetic chills, one point of departure between the two experiences is that ASMR is typically considered to be relaxing and soothing (it is often used as a sleep aid), whereas chills are associated with excitement and physiological arousal. because the growing public recognition of ASMR media suggests that people are increasingly using ASMR videos for therapeutic benefit—including sleep and mood disorders
More scientific evidence is needed to confirm claims that ASMR promotes sleep. Anecdotal evidence suggests that ASMR can be used as a sleep aid, but there is little medical research exploring the relationship between ASMR and sleep quality. Since ASMR is not experienced by everyone and each person’s reactions to ASMR triggers are unique, it can be difficult to determine whether ASMR is a reliable way to promote sleep.
From this research I have determined that ASMR is more a sleep aid mostly because people can have very different reactions to ASMR and there’s not much scientific evidence
Types of ASMR videos
When you think of ASMR, you probably think of sound first and foremost. Those are the most well-known types of ASMR videos, centered around whispering or tapping or other gentle noises, but they certainly aren’t the only ones
Talking — Yes, whisper videos are popular among ASMR enthusiasts, but speaking in a low voice, reading books aloud, or even just saying certain types of words can also produce the desired response in viewers.
Texture — Exploring the sounds made by certain textures is also a popular category of ASMR, usually accompanied by a corresponding visual for those who prefer more than just audio. Crinkling and scratching are two common examples of this.
Food — ASMR food videos can refer to listening to someone eat specific types of foods (crunching vegetables, slurping soup, or just plain old chewing), but also to anything from the sizzle of oil in a pan to a knife chopping up meat.
Visual — While ASMR videos generally have a visual component, some focus almost entirely on visual stimuli rather than auditory ones, such as the flicker of a candle in a dark room.
Tactile — Tactile ASMR is all about physical touch. While that can’t be replicated over video, for some people, watching tactile ASMR (like someone running fingers through their hair) play out on screen evokes a memory or sensation close enough to it that it triggers a similar response
Evaluation and Conclusion – [250 words]
During this research task I have discovered that ASMR isn’t scientific evidence to treat insomnia. Although there is great evidence, suggesting that ASMR can help people sleep.
Food – ASMR food videos. The idea of someone eating food puts me off, making the types of ASMR videos. Also listening to some of it, specific types of food and making noise like a chewing , crunching slurping. Just sounds gross and very unpleasant so I won’t be making food ASMR videos for my fmp
Large diaphragm condenser mic — That means they need a power source like 48V phantom power to operate. It also means that they’re much more sensitive than dynamic mics and output a louder signal. Their sensitivity makes them ideal for quiet or extremely dynamic sources—like vocals or quiet sounds
The two ASMR types of videos that’s really stands outs to me is the visual and the whispering.
When I watch videos if visuals ASMR I find it very relaxing and calming by all the patterns fancy colours one the screen with the music the background.
Also when I listen the to Calming voice of ASMR whispers I always get chills up and down my body another words goosebumps
